 U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu, D-La. voted to approve Sen. Lisa Murkowski's, R-Alaska, bipartisan resolution to block the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) attempt to use the Clean Air Act to regulate greenhouse gases. Sen. Landrieu signed on to the resolution as a co-sponsor in January.

4/16/2010   SBA Adds Eight New Veterans Business Outreach Centers to Assist Veteran Entrepreneurs, Small Business Owners
 Eight new Veterans Business Outreach Centers (VBOCs) funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration will join seven existing SBA centers to provide entrepreneurial development services to eligible military veterans and reservists who own or start small businesses. SBA is providing a total of $2.5 million in grants to the centers, continuing funding to the existing centers, and new funding for the new centers.

 SBA Administrator Karen Mills announced the agency is making low-interest loans available to Louisiana Gulf Coast small businesses suffering financial losses following the April 20 Deepwater BP oil spill that shut down commercial and recreational fishing along the state’s southeast coast.
6/23/2010   SBA Announces Funding Available to Support Regional Clusters, Job Creation
 The U.S. Small Business Administration announced today the availability of funding to support economic development and job creation through existing regional clusters. As part of its Regional Cluster Initiative, SBA will accept proposals from local and regional cluster initiatives beginning July 7 for funding of up to $600,000 per cluster to support up to 15 projects across the country. Proposals should be submitted by the cluster's coordinating entity.
5/19/2010   SBA Announces No Loan Payment Due for One Year on Disaster Loans to Small Businesses Economically Affected by Deepwater BP Oil Spill; Opens Two More Business Recovery Centers
 The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA)has announced that it is extending to one year the first payment due date on its Economic Injury Disaster Loans to owners of small businesses that have been financially impacted by the Deepwater BP Oil Spill. In addition, SBA is opening two more Business Recovery Centers to assist owners of small businesses affected by the Deepwater BP Oil Spill. The new Business Recovery Centers will open in St. Bernard Parish and Terrebonne Parish on Monday, May17.
5/11/2010   SBA Makes Economic Injury Assistance Available in More Louisiana Parishes for Small Businesses Affected by Deepwater BP Oil Spill
 SBA Administrator Karen Mills has announced that SBA is making economic injury assistance available in 21 additional parishes for small businesses suffering financial losses following the April 20 Deepwater BP oil spill that shut down commercial and recreational fishing along the state's southeast coast. With these additions, SBA economic injury loans are now available in 34 Louisiana parishes and seven Mississippi counties.
6/29/2010   U.S. Chamber Calls for Lifting Ban on Gulf Oil Drilling
 Following a meeting with Gulf region business leaders in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce today intensified its efforts to convince the Obama administration to reconsider its six-month standstill on offshore exploration in the Gulf of Mexico. The moratorium imposed by the U.S. Department of Interior last month has become a de facto moratorium on all offshore exploration and is leading to thousands of lost jobs and billions of lost government revenue.

 A small business owner from Metairie, Louisiana, who embattled a catastrophic loss and overcame challenges generated as a result of Hurricane Katrina, has been named Louisiana Small Business Person of the Year.
