The Louisiana Economic Development Department and South Central Planning and Development Commission are again teaming up to sponsor a Business Incentive Seminar and Clinic on Tuesday, March 2nd from 9:00 am until 3 pm at the office of SCPDC, 5058 W. Main, Houma, LA.

The Louisiana Workforce Commission will hold a seminar for employers on electronic filing of quarterly wage and tax reports on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Terrebonne Parish Library Main Branch, 151 Library Drive, Houma.

 In memory of Robyn Adele Ford, a Nicholls State University education student who passed away this week after a battle with cancer, the Nicholls College of Education has joined Ford's family in establishing a memorial scholarship for high-achieving students who have also contended with the disease.

Nicholls State University will be represented by 80 students in the 2011 edition of "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.”

Musicians with the Nicholls State University Department of Music's strings program will perform two free concerts this month, both open to the public.

Paying tribute to all veterans past and present, Nicholls State University will host a Veterans Day ceremony in the campus quadrangle at 11:45 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11. The public is encouraged to attend.

Terrebonne General Medical Center (TGMC) has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in nuclear medicine as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR). Nuclear medicine is a branch of medical imaging that uses small amounts of radioactive material, ingested by the patient, to diagnose and treat a variety of disease, including many types of cancers, heart disease, and certain other abnormalities within the body.

Terrebonne Parish libraries will celebrate Teen Read Week™ (October 16-22, 2011) with special events and programs aimed at encouraging teens to read for the "fun of it”. Thousands of libraries, schools and bookstores across the country will hold similar events centered on this year's theme, Picture It! @ Your Library®, which encourages teens to read a variety of materials, including graphic novels, movies, books about photography, and more.

Alisa Deroche, RN in the Medical Surgical Unit at Terrebonne General Medical Center (TGMC) has been honored with "The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses.” Deroche has been a part of the TGMC family for three years.

Homecoming Week at Nicholls State University is slated to kick off Sunday, Oct. 16. Themed "One Team, One Goal: 40 Years of Colonel Football,” the annual festival will include several activities, most of which are open to the public and many of which are free of charge.

Kimberly Hebert, RN has been named the Terrebonne General Medical Center (TGMC) October Employee of the Month. Hebert works as a Clinical Coordinator in the Medical Surgical Unit and has been part of the TGMC team for five years.

Music at St. John's presents soprano Valerie Francis on Sunday, November 6, at 3:00 p.m., at St. John's Episcopal Church, 718 Jackson Street, Thibodaux. Admission is $10. Student admission is $5 and those 18 and younger are admitted free of charge. A reception will follow the concert where you can visit with the performer.

Teachers-in-training enrolled in the Nicholls State University College of Education are offering two specific services, via Skype, Adobe Connect and Google Chat, to elementary school students throughout Louisiana.
